Local Area

Craiglinnhe is ideally situated for exploring the West Highlands of Scotland.  Rannoch Moor, Glencoe and Ardgour are practically on our doorstep and Loch Ness, Mull and Skye can all be enjoyed within a few hours drive.   Visit Scotland is a great source of general information and invaluable when planning your trip.

Those with an interest in walking are very well placed. You can ‘bag’ two Munros direct from Craiglinnhe.  

Recommendations for Dinner

Craiglinnhe House does not offer dinner but we are lucky enough to be surrounded by good quality restaurants and pubs just a short drive away. We are always happy to give recommendations and help with reservations:

• The Holly Tree Hotel bar and restaurant is within walking distance or a short 2 minute drive
• Loch Leven Seafood Cafe approximately 6 miles away
• The Old Inn at Appin (contact us for reservations)
• The Laroch in Ballachulish village, a 5 minute drive away
• Roam West in Onich, a 10 minute drive away.
• Clachaig Inn at Glencoe is a 15 minute drive away
• The Lochleven Hotel and Restaurant, 5 minutes drive away.

The Quarry Centre

The Quarry Centre Tourist Information Gift Shop and Cafe, provides local information on activities, walks, drives etc. Bus pick up/drop off for Fort William to Glasgow.  A great selection of gifts, delicious snacks and ground coffee. Internet Access. Slate Heritage Trail

National Trust Scotland Glencoe Visitor Centre

Glencoe Visitor Centre offers a dramatic backdrop for climbing and walking and the centre offers information, guided events, shop and an exhibition.  The whole centre has been recently refurbished and their café is a great place to enjoy lunch or a coffee.

Castle Stalker

Also known as Castle Arrgghh of Monty Python’s Holy Grail fame, Castle Stalker is a beautiful castle situated just 10 miles from Craiglinnhe House.  The newly renovated Linnhe Storehouse and Cafe overlooks Castle Stalker and offers great coffee, fresh pastries, breakfast and lunch with the opportunity to shop their curated selection of quality Scottish products.

Golf

Woodlands located two minutes drive from Craiglinnhe House offers activities and nine hole golf.
